The court of appeal has upheld a death sentence given to three men who broke into a Thika pineapples farm and stole 30 mangoes.

Julius Mugambi, Edward Mburu and Francis Maina lost their case to the court of appeal after it was established that they were positively identified to have been the ones who broke into the farm.

The three were said to have picked pineapples worth Sh1500 from the farm. However, they did not make away with them as they were pursued by dogs which prompted them to drop their loot in the process.

They were additionally charged with threatening the security guards with harmful objects and also injuring the dogs. The dogs had deep machete cuts after the attack.

The dog handlers told the court that he released the dogs to pursue the assailants after it was noted that the situation was getting out of hand.
