This comes after Justice Erick Ogola on Tuesday threw out a case seeking to bar the procurement of two new ferries from Turkey.

In his ruling, the judge said MV Jambo had been tested and certified hence making it safe for launching.

In reference to the high price of the ferry, Ogola said Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) had requested for early delivery, a move which made the cost go up, Baraka FM has reported.

Bonriz Insurance Marine Surveyors limited, which had offered consultancy services to the ferry designers, ozata tersanecilik san ve tic ltd sti, had raised alarm over the high pricing of the ferry.

“The ferry constructed must be safe with no room for doubt. It should be allowed to dock and carry out sea test to confirm any defects,” said Ogola, as quoted by the daily.

The court, however, barred Ozata from constructing another ferry, until the parties involved re-examine the issues raised by the consultancy firm.

The ferry is set to be launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday.
