Mombasa Resident Magistrate Lilian Lewa on Wednesday issued the orders following an application by the investigative officer to exhume the body and conduct a postmortem.

The suspects, Mr Ismael Mutua and Mr Mfaki Nuru, together with three others are jointly charged with allegedly killing Mr Omar Shaffi Abdallah in June, this year, at Mtongwe area in Likoni, Mombasa County.

The court heard that Mr Abdallah was killed by an angry mob after allegedly stealing a mobile phone battery.

The investigation officer also filed an application to have the five accused persons remanded in police custody to allow him complete investigations.

Magistrate Lewa ordered for the five suspects to be detained at Inuka Police Station pending the next case hearing.
