The High Court has asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection-panel interview two candidates that were not shortlisted to the Commissioner posts.
Justice Edward Muriithi directed that that nine-member team chaired by Bishop Benedetta Musundi interviews Bob Ndubi and Suyianka Lempaa, just like other 36 shortlisted candidates.
A Kenyan, Jared Juma had filed a petition, demanding that the IEBC commissioner posts be halted temporarily basis until the panel makes public the criteria used to shortlist candidates for the interviews.
"No prejudice will be suffered by the selection panel or the Attorney General in allowing Mr Lempaa and Mr Ndubi to be interviewed. Any perceived prejudice is outweighed by the public interest in the matter, to have transparency in the process of appointment of IEBC commissioners and chairperson in accordance with the Constitution,'' ruled the Judge, Friday.
The panel shortlisted 36 applicants out of 760 for the positions of chairperson and commissioners.
Only eight of the 36 shortlisted candidates for the interviews which are expected to be completed on December 16, are women.
