In the ruling issued Friday, the High Court ordered the road joining Mihang'o from the Eastern bypass which joins Kangundo road through Matopeni that had been fenced-off by the Department of Defense, be reverted back to the public.

Residents had complained KDF had blocked the road, preventing them from accessing their destinations, besides digging trenches along the road, which were used as hideouts for criminals.

According to Governor Kidero, the land was bought in 1971 by the County government but the Army invaded and took 3,000 acres without due recourse to any compensation; only to blocked the remaining 2,000 acres that passed through the road, four weeks ago.

In the case, Defense Cabinet Secretary Rachel Omamo had been named as the second respondent.
