The Mombasa Water Supply and Sanitation Company has been ordered to reconnect water to vendors in the county.Judge Patrick Otieno on Monday issued the orders after water vendors in the county moved to court in May 2016 seeking court orders to stop the company from disconnecting their water. The water vendors in their court papers said the firm gave no prior notice and acted illegally in breach of their contract by disconnecting water supply to their kiosks.Judge Otieno in his ruling gave the water firm seven days to comply with the order or risk being charged with contempt. The Judge said he had issued similar orders in March 2017 but the water company failed to comply, adding that this was its last chance to comply with the orders. In his ruling, Judge Otieno said the water company cannot collect taxes from the vendors and fail to render services in return. He further ordered the officer in charge of low consumer services, Mr Isaac Okoyo, to appear before the court on September 29 with reports of compilation of the orders.
