A Nakuru court on Thursday ordered a probation report for a youth accused of verbally assaulting his mother.

The court ordered that the report be availed before it makes its verdict in a case where the youth has pleaded guilty to the charges facing him.

Douglas Waigwa is alleged to have verbally assaulted his mother Mary Wanjiru and calling her useless on October 14, at Mwareki area in Nakuru County.

It is alleged that he went to his mother’s house at around 2pm while drunk and started using abusive words, and when his mother intervened, he started insulting her.

His mother who is the complainant, reported the incident to the police who later came and picked Waigwa up.

He was taken to Mwareki police station where he was charged

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Maroro Nyakundi, he pleaded guilty and told the court that his mother forgave him when she was at the police station.

“The complainant in this case, my mother, has already forgiven me. She was at the police station to withdraw the charges but the OCS said I should wait to be discharged,” he said.

In mitigation, he said it was as a result of alcohol and will not repeat again, and begged for forgiveness from the court.

The court ordered that a probation report be availed before giving a decision on the case.

The case will be mentioned on October 29, for availing of probation report.
