The High Court in Machakos on Friday postponed a case facing eight suspects among them Ken wa Maria famous for his ‘Fundamentals’ song.
The eight suspects were accused for leading a protest against Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua where during the protest, they allegedly used abusive connotations against the governor and other county officials. They were also accused of destroying property worth more than Sh 500,000 and resisting arrest.
On December 16, 2014, it is alleged that the eight led a caravan that was dubbed ‘Okoa Machakos County Forum’.
The lawyer representing the eight accused stated that the court should follow the constitution and hear the case soon or dismiss it due to lack of witnesses.
However, the court has said that the case has been postponed because more witnesses are expected to testify and so more time is needed to prepare them to appear in court.
The eight who denied the allegations were arrested at Chumbi town.
They were realised on a cash bail of Sh 30,000 and the case is set to be heard on February 1, 2015.
