Ballot boxes. [Photo| voanews]Former Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma has suffered a blow in his request to have scrutiny and recount of votes cast on August 8, in the Kisumu gubernatorial race. This is after the High Court rejected the plea. Through his lawyer Richard Onsongo, Ranguma told the court that the recount was important as the polk was marred by irregularities. While turning down the request, the court noted that it suffered a, "congenital birth effect as thepetitioner's affidavit does not set out which polling stations require further examination".'I'm not convinced at this stage hat it would be appropriate to issue such orders, perhaps the examination and cross-examination of the respondent's witness and more particularly returning officers may convince me to act 'suo moto (on its own motion)'," the court said, Thursday as quoted by the Star. "For now, the order I can make is to dismiss the application," added the court. The case is still ongoing.
