Hearing of a petition challenging the election of Marakwet East Member of Parliament Bowen Kangogo has been set for December 4.

The date for the hearing of the matter was set on Monday during a status conference at the Eldoret High Court where parties involved agreed on several issues among them the amount of time that each of them will be allocated and the number of witnesses they will use.Eldoret High Court Judge George Kimondo said the matter will be heard for five consecutive days.Seven witnesses will be used in the case, three for the petitioner and two each for the MP and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).A voter, Sammy Kemboi filed the petition seeking the nullification of the MPs' win on claims that the election was marred by irregularities and illegalities. He also wants the court to order of a vote recount to determine the accuracy and the exact number of votes garnered by each candidate arguing that Forms 35A used in the area showed that Linah Jebii Kilimo had won but the IEBC used fictitious figures to declare Kangogo as the winner. In the August 8 poll results, IEBC declared Kangago of Jubilee party as the winner with 14,812, while Kilimo, a former MP who vied as an independent candidate garnered 13,845.
