The amount is to be paid to Ngilu and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In her ruling, Justice Pauline Nyamweya dismissed a petition filed by Malombe citing lack of sufficient evidence.

The court ruled that Ngilu was validly elected after Malombe claimed that the election was marred with all sorts of illegalities and irregularities.

The court also dismissed claims that Malombe’s agents were denied access to polling stations during the elections.

In her ruling, Nyamweya said Malombe failed to prove to the court that Ngilu bribed voters and caused violence in different polling stations to ensure that she beats him during the exercise.

Ngilu argued that her win reflects the will of Kitui residents.

On its part, IEBC maintained that it conducted the elections in line with the constitution.
