On Monday, High court judge John Mativo issued the orders after the seven politicians  among them businessman Jimmi Wanjigi, senator James Orengo, Dagorreti North MP Simba Arati NASA strategist David Ndii and former Machakos senator Johanson Muthama filed a suit against the government order asking them to surrender their passports.

The politicians argued that the government letter asking them to surrender their passports was in violation of their rights.

The NASA politicians argued that they are entitled to a passport as provided for in the Constitution and that any suspension is only limited to the grounds under Section 31 of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011.

Judge Mativo issued conservatory orders restraining the government from confiscating travel documents belonging to the politicians.

The judge ruled that the orders will remain in force until when the case is heard and determined.

Early this month, the government through the Director of Immigration wrote to seven NASA politician's asking them to surrender their passports by Febrauruy 21.

The government  directive to have the politicians surrender their passports was issued after NASA leader Raila Odinga's January 30 swearing in as the people's president and the government decision to outlaw the National Resistance Movement (NRM) as an outlawed group.
