The Nakuru High Court has barred local journalist Elijah Kinyanjui from publishing articles concerning the Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kiheka.
Three months ago the county assembly speaker moved to court to obtain court orders restraining the journalist who writes for a Nakuru-based newspaper from publishing articles about her which she said were portraying her in bad light.
The journalist who was unrepresented during the mentioning of the case had however denied that the articles that had appeared in consecutive issues of the paper between April and June this year were defamatory but purely in line with public service as required of a journalist to report on the conducts of public officers.
Justice Abigael Mshila directed that the journalist stops publishing any articles about the speaker until the court hears the case slated for November 12. The court also directed the journalist to find a lawyer within fourteen days.
