The Nairobi High Court has stopped Parliament from working on a petition to remove from office Auditor General Edward Ouko over a Sh100 million tender.
Judge Chacha Mwita on Monday issued the temporary order after an application made by activist Okiya Omtatah.
This will in effect halt the parliamentary committee that was investigating Ouko from conducting the work further till the case is heard and determined.
Earlier, High Court Judge George Odunga had declined to block the parliamentary committee from investigating Ouko and sent the file to Mwita.
Omtatah's case is the second one filed to challenge the removal of Ouko.
Earlier, Ouko himself filed a case suing Parliament and President Uhuru Kenyatta demanding that the decision of the speaker and clerk on committing the petition in Parliament be quashed.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had earlier recommended that Ouko be arraigned in court but the office of the DPP cleared him.
