This comes after police officers started arresting mnazi traders following the crackdown of illicit brew in the county.

Upendo palm wine self-help group in their court papers is also seeking the dismissal of pending cases against palm wine traders at the Shanzu law courts.

The mnazi traders raised concerns over law enforcement officers whom they said are taking advantage of the crackdown on illicit brew to harass them.

Hundreds of traders who jammed the court room now want the government to legalise consumption of palm wine, popularly known as mnazi.

During the Monday hearing, Mombasa Lady Justice Njoki Mwangi ordered the suspension of the cases till the pending case regarding the constitutional legality status of palm wine is ruled out.
