The High Court temporarily stopped tendering of the 2017 general election materials by a Dubai-based firm.
This is after the Opposition, Cord moved to Court, seeking suspension of the tender issued to the Al-Ghurai Printing and Publishing Company by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), on grounds that it was awarded illegally.
Cord also wants the IEBC to start afresh, the process of awarding tender for the supply of election declaration forms, ballot papers and poll registers.
Justice George Odunga issued the ruling, Monday, and directed Cord through Senior Council James Orengo (Siaya senator) to serve the Court orders through a worldly and local circulating newspaper.
IEBC awarded Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing Company notice of award to supply 130 million ballot papers to be used in elections for six positions 2017.
Justice Odunga said the case was a matter of great public interest.
The case will be heard on December 21, 2016.
The fresh tendering row facing IEBC came about after a South African firm, Par,l Media Ltd petitioned the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board to revoke the Sh2.5 billion tender, saying the Dubai firm unlawfully received the tender.
IEBC through lawyer David Lebullelah has since contested the claims, arguing that the tendering process was done on merit.
