The Employment and Labour Relations Court in Kisumu on Monday issued temporary suspension of the proceedings of the Adhoc committee of the Kisumu County Assembly inquiring into the conduct of members of the Kisumu County Public Service.

The order was granted by Lady Justice Maureen Onyango until the application is heard inter parties on 12th October 2017.

The matter was filed by the members of the board under certificate of urgency just as the Adhoc committee settles down to start public hearing.

Speaking to the press earlier in the day, Kisumu County Assembly Majority Leader Kenneth Onyango said the committee had begun to receive oral submissions and written memoranda.

Onyango reported that so far the committee had listened to only two people.

“We anticipated to receive many people to come and appear before this committee but unfortunately only two people turned p, this can be attributed to the demonstration that was happening in town,” he said.

He urged members of the public to feel free and appear before the committee before they wind up.

The committee was formed last week to look into the conduct of the Board with a view of disbanding its membership.
