The High Court has temporarily suspended the decision of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board (PPARB) to cancel the award of new currency printing tender to UK Company, De La Rue.The suspension will go on until a case filed by Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and the currency printing firm De La Rue is heard and determined. The order was given by Justice Odunga following an appeal by the CBK and De La Rue appeal against cancellation of currency tender."Leave is hereby granted to both applicant (De La Rue and CBK) to file substantive application within five days. The said leave to operate as stay of the decision of the respondent made on 8th January pending hearing and determination, " Justice Odunga ordered.CBK argued that since they were given 14 days to review the award of the tender, the decision should stand suspended in the interest of Justice. The suit was filed by Swedish firm Crane AB accusing CBK of breaching the law in awarding the deal to De La Rue and giving it a 15 per cent margin preference for having local shareholding.
