The National Cohesion and Integration Commission's (NCIC) efforts to settle Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's  hate speech case out of the court on Friday failed to succeed.

This comes after the MP promised to gazette an apology to the people affected by his statements only for him to commit what was widely considered a similar offence hours later.

The NCIC accused Kuria of refusing to be regretful of his actions and instead going on with his ‘careless tribal connotations’.

In a statement read to the media on Friday, NCIC chairman Francis Ole Kaparo said Kuria’s fate now will be determined by the court.

“It’s only logical for us to withdraw from the case and let the court continue with it,” the former national assembly speaker said.

“This is because while the reconciliation process Kuria has continued to use his social media accounts to post materials that can cause disharmony and are contradicting the spirit of reconciliation on the opinion of the commission,” said Ole Kaparo

NCIC alleged that the new provocative posts had been deleted after a check on the MP’s account.
