The Mombasa High Court will next week deliver its verdict on a petition filed by former Senator Hassan Omar challenging the re-election of Governor Hassan Joho.
High court Judge Lydia Achode is expected to deliver the ruling on Thursday next week.
Omar, who unsuccessfully contested for the gubernatorial seat challenged Joho’s re-election citing massive irregularities and illegalities in the contest.
In the petition, the former wiper Secretary General claimed that Joho’s re-election was not the wish and the will of the Mombasa people adding that the governor intimidated his agents in some polling stations.
He also alleged that the county boss brought down his billboards in the run to the election frustrating is campaigns.
Omar asked the court to nullify Joho’s win and call for fresh gubernatorial election that will reflect the will of the people.
In his defense, Joho rubbished Omar’s claims saying that he was validly elected and declared winner.
Joho termed Omar’s allegations as pure propaganda and asked the court to uphold his win.In the August 8 General Election.
