The High Court in Kisumu will deliver its much awaited judgment on the consolidate election petition against Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o in January.
In his ruling on Wednesday, Justice David Majanja said that the jury will use the submission presented by the different parties in the case to arrive at the final determination when that time comes. He, however, said that the judgement date will be communicated later.
Former Governor Jack Ranguma had moved to court seeking for the nullification of Nyong’o’s victory, citing massive irregularities and illegalities. Several witness appeared before the court to testify in the case. Ranguma maintained that the win of the first term governor did not reflect the will of the people of Kisumu.
In a sworn affidavit, Ranguma accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of mismanaging the election exercise that saw him lose his post.
The former county boss accused Nyong’o, a former senator, of hatching a plot with the electoral agency to deny him victory. He argued that both the voting and transmission of results experienced a myriad of challenges, which affected the outcome.
Nyong’o through lawyers James Orengo and Antony Oluoch has insisted that he has no case to answer.
