Doctors have said they are ready to go to jail, if that is what it takes to end their nationwide strike which kicked off December 5, 2016.
This follows a ruling by the Industrial Court, asking them to negotiate and end the strike in a two weeks time, which ends Thursday 26, January, 2017.
Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials accused the Health Ministry of not showing interest to end the strike.
Nairobi branch KMPDU secretary general Thuranira Kaugiria said: "They are yet to call us for any meeting. Claims that we have agreed on some CBA issues are false.''
"They invite themselves in a meeting and later call a press conference that we have agreed on issues. We are ready to go to jail if that's what it takes to fight for doctors' rights in this nation,'' he added.
KMPDU rejected a 40 per cent salary hike offer by government, saying they need a 300 per cent increment as agreement in the 2013 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
