Juja MP Francis Waititu has said that the Judiciary is delaying government's projects by what he has termed as ‘controversial’ rulings.
The MP who was speaking in his constituency on Sunday said that they will challenge the recent ruling on the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Act by all means possible.
"The courts have made it a habit to stop everything that the government embarks on. They started with rubbishing the police recruitments, they came to the Security Law, and they are now saying CDF is not constitutional. We will not stand and watch," said Waititu.
He said that the courts risk throwing the country into a crisis of so many unfinished projects to the detriment of the country's economic growth and development.
The MP has now said that the National Assembly is united on the matter and may turn to a referendum to have the kitty reinstated.
"Both Jubilee and Cord coalitions are unequivocal on this subject; we want the CDF to remain with MPs. We will use that bi-partisan approach to push for a referendum if all the other means to have it back fail," he said.
Waititu has however said that they will first use the parliamentary window that they have for now.
Elsewhere, Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has condemned the step by the court saying that projects funded by the fund may be affected.
She was speaking from her constituency on Sunday where she said the newly commissioned projects facilitated by the same funds have helped greatly in the development of many constituencies in the country.
Ng’ang’a however called upon the judiciary to punish legislators who have misused public funds.
