The court assured the don, Josphat Mwatelah, that he will receive justice for the loss he has suffered since his suspension in February, last year, under the directive of Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

The sacking of Mwatela came after he was accused of maladministration and integrity related issues.

In May 2016, the don received a letter from then PS Higher Education Collette Suda terminating his five year contract which began in 2013.

Reports indicate that the letter called on the institution’s council to probe the VC and other officials over the matter.

Judge Onesmus Makau on Friday ordered the institution to pay Mwatela all his dues from the month he was sacked.

The former VC will also receive a salary of the 12 months he could have been serving the university in the same capacity, if he had not been dismissed.

TUM will also clear his suit cost plus interest that might have accrued.

"Within 30 days from Friday, January 27, Mwatelah should calculate the accumulated interest and dues he is set to receive from his former employer," said the Judge.

The don, who is yet to be reinstated by the University, was found guilty of eight out of the ten charges the university had leveled against him.
