The Principal Secretary in the ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Eng John Musonik has urged courts to speed up the hearing and determination of cases on land compensation to enable the government complete the construction of the three road interchanges at Njoro, Mau Summit and Nyahururu.

Musonik who was speaking during the inspection of Njoro interchange road on Saturday observed that the delay in solving land disputes cases pending in courts has hampered the completion of a huge backlog of road network and interchanges  in the country.

'We cannot complete the construction of ongoing road networks while there are pending land issues in our courts. This is why I am asking the Judiciary to fasten these processes to enable  the state roads and infrastructure agency ease traffic on highways. This will also be a great move in opening up Nakuru to neighboring areas for better commercial opportunities.' Musonik stated.

According to the PS, the overall cost of the construction of the three roads interchanges in Nakuru is estimated at Sh2.6 billion which they are working on to complete in the next one and half year.

'We have a 3,000km road network pending to be completed within the next one and half years in bid to mitigate road carnage along Nakuru Nairobi highway.' Musonik further added.

The ongoing projects are funded by  the World Bank under the  supervision of the Kenya National Highways Authority.
