According to the elders, a fractured opposition has always cost the former Premier his presidential bid.

They said if the Cord leader is to get to State House come 2017, he must start by dealing with the party rebellion problem bedeviling his opposition coalition outfit, particularly rebellious members of Parliament who they accuse of leaking party strategies to rival parties.

This plea comes at a time when many ODM legislators have publicly declared their allegiance to the Kenyatta-led Jubilee coalition, with the latest incident coming barely a fortnight ago when some opposition MP's attended a Jubilee prayer rally at Afraha stadium, which was against the party position.

Mr Willis Otondi, the Luo Council of Elders Chairman said the party should deal with the renegade MP's and never relent in ensuring all those who become rebellious are disciplined.

"We advice Raila to kick out all those MP's who are in ODM and Cord accidentally. The coalition can do without them. This is the only win he is going to win 2017 election. He should retain only trusted allies," he said yesterday in Kisumu.

Kisumu Central lawmaker Ken Obura and his Karachuonyo counterpart James Rege have in the past tasted the wrath of the Luo elders for their alleged association with the Jubilee coalition.
