Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo has called for an intensive crackdown on criminals that are allegedly causing havoc in the constituency.

Speaking to residents at Ruiru trading center yesterday, the MP alleged that crime has escalated in the recent past.

Gathogo added that she has received complaints from locals and asked the law enforcers to comb out criminals.

“I have received security complaints from locals and business people in Ruiru and adjacent towns,” Gathogo said.

The MP said that development would not be realized if the security of locals and investors was not guaranteed.

Gathago asked security agencies to employ new tactics in the fight against criminal gangs.

Gathogo has warned youths in the constituency against joining criminal gangs. The MP said that crime would not help address problems facing young people.

She pledged her commitment saying that her plan was to fight unemployment among the youths.

The legislator appealed to the youths to be active and seek opportunities that will help them earn descent livelihoods.
