Kisumu County government has been asked to inspect water used by local hotels to cook their meals.
Local hotels around the main stage, Nyalenda, Carwash and Manyatta areas have been accused of using dirty water to prepare their foods.
The Kisumu Business Coalition Chairman Israel Agina has asked Health CeC Dr Elizabeth Ogaje to conduct a thorough inspection of the premises since “most ‘kibanda’ hotels around the main stage normally use the free flowing water to prepare their foods and even for washing purposes”.
At the same time, Migosi Ward Representative Paul Achayo also asked the county government to act fast in ensuring that sanity returns to the hotel industry to prevent spreading the practice.
The county has also been challenged to improve on ways of doing business by adopting proper and economical ways to foster development and growth.
Agina said that the county was one of the best business hubs in the country in the early 80’s and asked the county government to improve on the ways through both intra and inter county relationship to foster development.
“Kisumu was a major business hub in the early 80’s and we really need to ask ourselves where we went wrong. For Kisumu to prosper, we need to engage as a county in many business ideals and opportunities with other counties and even with foreign countries,” said Agina.
