A crackdown on alcohol makers and sellers has netted more than 700 people in the last two weeks in Uasin Gishu county.

The crackdown began when governor Jackson Mandago vowed to fight illicit brews in the county.Mandago accused security officers of doing too little to fight and end the illegal liquor in the county. 

County commissioner, Abdi Hassan, on Thursday said over 21, 665 liters of liquor has been impounded.

"The fight against illegal liquor is ongoing and the crackdown won't stop anytime soon," he said.He warned families planning to make the local brew known as 'busaa' during this festive season that they will be arrested and charged."Courts will not close for residents to make the illicit brew. I want to urge those planning to make busaa to stop," he added.
