On Saturday, the presidential directive to combat illicit brew continued to take its course in Kibera.
Men in military wear, alongside the area’s chiefs and other security administrators poured over 4,000 litres of illegal brews.
The operation started along Mama Okinda Street then moved to Makina, Soweto, Kamkunji, and Kakamega villages.
Betty Gikunda, the assistant county commissioner said that it was an impromptu operation which was aimed at ensuring that Kibera is free of illegal brews.
Other administrators present were the Kibera chief, Shaban Juma, assistant chief for Makina, Christine Litswa, assistant chief of Olympi- Kianda Erick Mutwiri and the chief inspector Sarang’ombe,David Majara.
The area Chief Danvas Mogire said, “today is just the start and we dealt with the manufacturers, we got the distilled alcohol,’’ he said.
Gikunda advised the brewers to stop the business and venture into other economical business using the already made capital from the alcohol business.
“You’re ruining a lot of people’s lives and should seek advice on venturing into other lawful economic activities,” said Danvas Mogire.
