Machakos county government has launched a crackdown on hotels that do not meet the required health standards to curb the outbreak of diseases.
The county health chief officer Jacks Nthanga said the crackdown mainly targets roadside kiosks which are mostly affected by dirty environment.
"We want to crack down on those roadside kiosks that do not comply with the health requirements to avoid the outbreak of diseases such as cholera," said Nthanga.
Nthanga noted that any kiosk found not complying will be ordered to shut down indefinitely.
"Any food kiosk that does not meet the health standards will be closed down without any negotiation. Operators should value good health of their customers," said the health officer.
