Hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party settled on five names to east African Legislative Assembly, a section of Nyamira leaders have faulted the outcome.

With Uhuru having scored relatively well in a region perceived as an opposition zone, a number of leaders had tasked the ruling party to consider one of their own.

“We delivered to Jubilee and we expect nothing less than a nomination. We fought hard for the President,” said North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko.

Instead, Jubilee party settled on former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae, who comes from the neighboring Kisii County.

But the move has not gone down well with a number of leaders with former governorship aspirant Charles Mochama terming it ‘discriminatory’.

“As Nyamira, we have been shortchanged by Jubilee and we need an explanation on this. We cannot allow it to go down,” he said.

Among those who had been fronted to be nominated from Nyamira are Mochama and former EALA member Joseph Kiangoi, who had been nominated by ODM in past parliament.
