A section of Jubilee Party officials from the Mt Kenya region have expressed their dissatisfaction with Raphael Tuju’s leadership.
The over 190 officials from 10 counties are accusing the party’s secretary general of micromanaging the ruling party.
They have demanded to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta over the matter.
“The secretariat has been very economical on the flow of information. The secretariat is not the party but employees of the party and must respect us,” said Alhaji Mwendia, as reported by The Nation.
Mwendia is the agitated group’s chairman.
The leaders demanded to be involved in drawing the party’s nomination lists. They warned the party against organising the presidential campaigns in the counties without consulting them.
They have given the Jubilee secretariat a seven-day ultimatum to respond to their grievances.
“All efforts to coordinate the presidential campaign must be done by the executives without any external interference,” Mwendia said.
He also lamented over non-payment of polling officers and clerks, who worked for the party during the nominations.
“They should be paid before Tuesday and this is a demand. We think this is done deliberately for some people to benefit from what they did not work for.”
