With only two weeks left before the January 30th date that is planned for the swearing in of Raila Odinga, the National Super Alliance swearing in wheels seems to be grinding to a halt.
According to sources, there are issues that have so far threatened the plans to install Odinga as the Peoples’ president. A section of NASA principals are not for the idea of swearing in Odinga, instead pushing for dialogue without giving ultimatums.
Musalia Mudavadi is said to be pushing Odinga to drop the swearing in plans, as well as Moses Wetangula.
Wetangula has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to form an all-inclusive government, including people from areas that did not vote for him.
“Whether you got votes in Luo Nyanza or not, we want to see Luos in your cabinet. It matters not whether you got votes from UKambani or not, pick people who are respected, not sycophants,” he said.
Also slowing the journey to the proverbial Canaan is the recent call off of Lower Eastern People’s assembly forum by Wiper, which cast more doubts on their commitment.
The naming of the swearing in committee team is yet to happen, with less than 15 days to the swearing date.
However, others are pushing for the installation of Odinga as the people’s president. “We are going back to the august election that was nullified by the court.
We can prove to anyone that Raila won the election, we are saying this time or never, Raila must be sworn in as president,” says Johnstone Muthama.
The coalition is having a meeting on Monday, which will make or break the plans by Odinga to be sworn in.
