Flamboyant Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has warned Deputy President William Ruto of dire consequences if he fails to support him in 2017 for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
Sonko was speaking at Reresik in Kericho county ob Sunday. The Senator said Ruto is set to suffer 'political repercussions' if he goes on to back Water CS Eugene Wamalwa.
Sonko said Ruto has better chances of becoming president in 2022 if he supports his gubernatorial aspirations in 2017.
“My candidature as Nairobi governor has a high chance of seeing DP Ruto clinch the presidential seat in 2022 elections and not any other candidate,” Sonko said.
“There is a clique of political conmen in Nairobi which has been lying to Mr Ruto that if I become the governor of Nairobi next year, I would hinder his ambitions to become president in 2022 by running for president. Those are liars who must be condemned and be defeated at all costs,” Sonko said.
