Jubilee Youth Leadership from Nyamira have come into the defense of Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i following attacks from local MPs.
At a press conference on Tuesday, a section of Jubilee leaders led by North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko labelled the stylish CS a 'tenant' remarks that didn't impress youths.
"We want the president to make appointments from Nyamira to his cabinet. Tenants will not represent our interests," said Nyamoko, apparently in reference to Matiang'i.
It is widely believed that Matiang'i's parents originally came from South Mugirango in Kisii before settling in Borabu, Nyamira County.
In a statement signed by County Chairman Brian Ongere, the youths reiterated their trust in Matiang'i, alluding to his transformation in various ministries.
"As Nyamira youths, we have a lot of trust in Matiang'i and we know through him, we shall get a share in government.
"Those lobbying for jobs should do it in a professional manner. Time for politicking is over and as leaders, we should work together," said Ongere, in reference to Nyamira politicians disowning Matiang'i.
A part from Matiang'i, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Chris Obure as CAS and Susan Mocheche as PS.
