"The threat is no longer a continent specific but global," Raila said in a statement on Saturday.

"The global community should get together quickly and device ways to respond to this development as old approaches and assumptions will not do," he added.

The Cord leader further said that time has come when the global community should hold round-the-table dialogue to know the players in terrorism and craft mechanisms to tame them as the only way to tackle the escalating incidences of terrorism.

Mr Odinga also condemned the shooting saying that a new brand of terror has shattered the peace of a key European city.

"I join other citizens of the world in condemning in strongest terms the attacks that have claimed lives of innocent people going about their daily routine," Odinga said.

He added that the thoughts and prayers of Kenyans were with the families of those injured and killed in the attacks.

"We wish them quick recovery and success in their dreams in the days ahead," he said.
