Area MP Stephen Mule who hosted a function recently to launch classes and a dispensary at Kithuani village in Matungulu Sub County declared that an all out war against crime had been launched in all parts of the sub county.

Several cases of armed crime including car jerking on Kangundo-Nairobi highway, burglary and theft of motor bikes and livestock have been reported in the past few months.

Several traders have also been killed by gun-wielding criminals and night guards hacked to death at different shopping centers across Matungulu, a scenario that has worried residents and perplexed local security operatives.

The latest incident which police are hotly pursuing was last Wednesday’s attack targeting Kangundo MP Kyengo Maweu’s personal vehicle by suspected highway robbers where the Nissan X-trail car he was riding in alongside three other occupants had its wheels pierced before unknown persons begun hurling stones at the vehicle.

A source told this writer that the MPs bodyguard, who was armed, fired twice in the air through his pistol to disperse the attackers.

Although nobody was injured in the incident, security agencies have been dispatched to hunt down the suspects, who are believed to have been behind a series of highway robbery and carjacking incidents along the road.

In a separate incident, a prominent business man was brutally attacked and killed at Kwa Mwaura near Ol Ndonyo Sabuk in Matungulu Sub County.

Confirming this incident, Matungulu OCPD Joshua Lutukai said a middle aged businessman was attacked at Kwa Mwaura village near Ol Ndonyo Sabuk leaving him dead and the wife nursing serious injuries.

The man’s body is being preserved at Ol Ndonyo sabuk Nursing Home mortuary while his wife has been admitted at the same hospital as investigations are still underway.

At least four men have been arrested in possession of some of the stolen goods and have been taken to Ol Ndonyo police post awaiting investigations.

“We have already launched investigation into this matter and have arrested four men although this number may rise before the end of the day,” said Lutukai as he asked the public to report any information they might have to the police.
