A crisis is looming within the Jubilee party after de-whipping of Members of Parliament from the Rift Valley.

The lawmakers were de-whipped after allegedly going against a State House directive on voting for house committee heads.

The de-whipped lawmakers include Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), and Alex Kosgei (Emgwen).

The defiant MPs have fired back by threatening to impeach Majority leader Aden Duale.

A section of lawamkers led by Cherengany’s Joshua Kuttuny on Thursday convened a meeting at parliament building where they deliberated on the matter.

During the meeting, the 30 MPs resolved that the de-whipped to be reinstated or begin proceedings to impeach Duale.

The meeting was also attended by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

Murkomen was tasked with the mandate of reaching out Deputy President William Ruto over the matter.

It is alleged that during a Jubilee Party parliamentary meeting, it was agreed that lawmakers allied to the ruling party vote for certain individuals for house committee positions.

However, some MPs went against the directive by either contesting for the seats or voted for other cndidates.

The revolt in Jubilee prompted the Deputy President to intervene and read the MPs the riot act, urging them to resign. “As per the Standing Order 176(2), I hereby discharge the member in reference from the Committee of Environment and Natural Resources. The leadership of Jubilee in Parliament has given the member adequate opportunity as the SO and we are convinced that he is not willing to cooperate with the party position,” read part of a letter by Jubilee to house speaker Justin Muturi.
