ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi with Moses Wetangula
Wrangles have emerged in the National Super Alliance (NASA) after a group of leaders from Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) and Moses Wetangula's Ford Kenya threatened to stop contributing presidential candidateRaila Odinga's campaign.
Speaking in Kakamega, the leaders alleged that their parties had been sidelined during the allocation of the County Assembly Leadership positions.
The group majorly Members of County Assembly (MCAs) accused Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of planning to ignore them in the county assembly leadership.
They said he had declared ANC as the enemy of the county.
"Oparanya purports to be forming an inter-party committee to campaign for Raila. He is on record declaring ANC as the enemy in the County. He has ensured both ANC and Ford Kenya are left out of all meaningful positions in the assembly," Kakamega ANC chairman Julius Arunga was quoted by the Star.
He called on the Governor to explain why ANC and Ford Kenya MCAs should work with him ahead of Saturday's campaign launch for Mr Odinga.
Oparanya, however, said that those unwilling to join the former Prime Minister's campaigns will not be forced to join the caravan.
"Assembly issues are about parties and this campaign cuts across party lines," Oparanya stated.
