Opposition leader Raila Odinga is struggling to kick start campaigns in vast Gusii region despite IEBC confirming October 17th as date for Presidential elections repeat.

Even though he has visited Gusii once since nullification of Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, his allies have remained mum despite promising to campaign for him.

The unfolding events have led to disquiet from a section of youths who feel that Nyamira and Kisii county leadership is doing little to boost Odinga’s chances.

“It is worrying that our leaders are doing little to campaign for party leader, none of them is series at all,” says Edward Omwansa.

Beavon Magare adds:”We want to see our leaders take responsibility. It is wrong to go slow at the time of need.”

Those mandated to run campaigns include John Nyagarama (Nyamira), James Ongwae (Kisii), Senators Okong’o Mogeni (Nyamira) and Sam Ongeri of Kisii.

During the August 8 elections, Odinga performed dismally in Nyamira County despite being his traditional stronghold with Uhuru Kenyatta recording impressive figures in Kisii County.
