Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has dismissed Opposition coalition NASA's demands on electoral reforms as "unrealistic."

Speaking on Monday during a meeting with members of North Imenti Consultative Forum, Kaimenyi condemned the ongoing anti-IEBC protests called by NASA, accusing the outfit of creating unnecessary obstacles ahead of the October 26 polls.

“As directed by the Supreme Court, the IEBC must be supported to conduct free, fair and credible election as per the Constitution and relevant electoral laws. Persistent expression on the preparedness of IEBC to conduct repeat presidential election by some politicians, undoubtedly affects the image and confidence of IEBC to discharge its mandate. We urge those involved to stop it,” he said.

Kaimenyi further noted that NASA's calls for the removal of a section of IEBC officials were insincere, adding that they amounted to public lynching.

“Such calls are unfair to our brothers and sisters who deserve a fair hearing in the event that someone has evidence of them being on the wrong side of the law and the Constitution,” he said.

IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba is one of the top officials the Opposition want out of office.
