Adan Mohammed, Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industrialisation, has rejected claims that the creation of a dry port in Naivasha was fueled by politics but by the need for efficiency in the clearance of cargo.

The CS revealed that the government had intentions of developing an industrial city in Naivasha consistent with Jubilee's development blueprint.

''The Naivasha dry port is not about politics as has been said by some people. This is about developing an industrial city in Naivasha which is the home of geothermal power,'' CS Adan Mohammed said yesterday in Mombasa.

This comes amid strong resistance from coastal leaders who say the creation of a dry port in Naivasha is aimed at killing business at the coast.

CS Mohammed said that the plans by the government for Naivasha would go on in spite of the resistance from coastal MPs.
