Energy CS Charles Keter has shed more light on Tuesday's countrywide blackout.

Speaking on Thursday, the CS said that the outage was due to a fault in the power distribution lines.

He stated that the distribution line from the Olkaria geothermal station to a sub-station in Nairobi, was cut offafter its conductors blew.

The incident led to an overloaded system.

Keter noted that the problem was spread to other parts of the country since Kenya's power systems are interconnected.

He was speaking in Nairobi during a tour of the Juja sub-station, where the lines werecut off.

He noted that all sytems had been restored.

The CS spoke as a section of opposition MPs asked the National Assembly tosummon him over increased power bills.
