The CS says that the claims doing rounds on social media are false.

Speaking in Ol Kalou on Monday, Kariuki indicated that she has no plans of venturing into politics or contesting for any seat.

“I don’t have any plans of moving into politics as being claimed and I urge Kenyans to ignore the social media rumors,” she said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Kariuki said that she is focused on her work as Gender CS.

According to sources, Kariuki is among several CSs who have political ambitions but President Uhuru Kenyatta wants them to shelve their ambitions and continue to serve in the government.

Last week President Kenyatta is said to have rejected Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri’s request to resign from the Cabinet.

Kiunjuri had declared interest in vying for the Laikipia gubernatorial seat in the August 8 polls.

The Devolution CS later announced that he had shelved his ambition for the Laikipia top seat and will continue to work as Devolution CS in Uhuru’s government.

Government officers who are intending to run for political seats in the August general elections have until February 7 to resign from their positions.
