Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has termed the surprise meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga as an encouraging gesture.
The two political bitter-rivals met at the Harambee house in Nairobi on Friday at a time many didn’t expect.
Speaking at the Eldoret showground, Kiunjuri said Kenyans should emulate what the President and NASA leader have done.
“For us as a country to prosper, we need people that can agree on issues of national importance,” said Kiunjuri.
“The meeting between the President and Raila is a good gesture and as Kenyans, we need to emulate by working together since we are brothers and sisters,” he added.
Kiunjuri who has been a fierce critic of the opposition said there was nothing wrong for the two leaders to meet as “this country is for all of us.”
“President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are human beings and nothing stops them from meeting and discussing on real issues the common mwananchi face on a daily basis,” noted the CS.
