Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has dismissed a recent poll that suggested that NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga would beat President Uhuru Kenyatta should elections have been held today.

The survey was conducted by American research firm Zogby, which is said to have been hired by the Opposition leader.

The poll intimated that Raila had a slight edge over Uhuru at 47.4% with Uhuru polling at 46.7%.

Speaking in Malindi on Thursday, Kiunjuri rubbished the poll results as fake.

"You cannot be a player and referee at the same time. You cannot do an opinion poll yet be the one on the ground. Fake opinion polls do not help," he said.

"[In Kilifi] the percentage has gone up. Previously no one would wear a Jubilee t-shirt but now people have accepted [us]," he added.
