Striking nurses have been urged to resume duty as stakeholders work on resolving the conflict around the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).Speaking at Kabarak University on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of a Sh45 billion teaching, research and referral mission hospital, Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu said that the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) had given guidance on what should be done.“The SRC had given clear guidelines over the same. My appeal is to the unions to restore services to Kenyans as the talks go on over the CBA,” said Dr Mailu. The CS was categorical that the dispute was between the Council of Governors and the nurses union, and there was need for the two parties to come to an agreement. He was, however, quick to note that the Health Ministry will do all it can to ensure the two parties come to an agreement to avert Kenyans from suffering.“Of course, this is a dispute between county governments and the union and they know how to handle it. As a Ministry, we will try our best to see the two parties come to an agreement so that Kenyans cannot suffer anymore,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
