Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu has warned any person who is calling for the resignation of Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Lily Koros saying that action will only be taken after investigations in to the rape claims are ascertained.

There has been increasing pressure from the public and the civil societies that have been pushing for the KNH CEO to resign over alleged failure to take action against ‘persistent’ patient harassment at the hospital.

Addressing the media in Mombasa on Tuesday Mailu said that it will be ‘unfair’ to call on the resignation of Koros even when the investigations are ongoing saying that stern action will be taken against anyone found culpable of sleeping on the job.

“We cannot break in to your house order you out so that the CID can carry out investigation, that is unacceptable and there are mechanisms of dismissing uncommitted staff,” Mailu said.

He further said that the final report on the matter will be released on Wednesday and that is when they will be able to know what actions to take.

“The management has done their bit but we need to get that report from the CID to know what really happened. After we have received the report am assuring you will take proper actions,” he added.
