[Photo| the-star]In a move to improve sanitation in the country, the Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu has directed all institutions, including banks and malls, to provide toilet services for their clients.Mailu has warned that any institution that will not comply with the new order will be shut down. Passengers and drivers especially those using the Nairobi-Nakuru highway have also been put on the spot.County governments have been ordered to arrest the passengers who defecate along the highways.Drivers who will also be charged.“As part of achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF), all banks and malls should have toilets. We are keen to address the issue of sanitation on major roads,” CS Mailu said in a speech that read by Director of Public Health and Sanitation in the ministry Kepha Ombacho on Sunday during the celebrations to mark World Toilet Day at Naivasha Highway Primary School.
